The FIP (fire indicator panel) needs to be tested monthly. Most of these are monitored by the fire brigades and you wouldn’t want to raise any false alarms. The Fire Indicator Panels will indicate which alarm is going off, so if there is a fire, firstly all the occupants will be evacuated and secondly the fire brigades can go direct to the source.
FIP can be quite simple, or complex with EWIP connected to them, strobe lights, alarms and MCPS. They are usually used in larger buildings and/ or in buildings that have sprinklers.
ALARMS
You can have stand alone, interconnected and of course connected to FIP. Alarm types can be smoke, thermal and CO2. They need to be tested every 6 months for commercial buildings and every 12 months for residential.
